My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I am giving this four stars because of my love for the series...but I fear that chinks are showing in the armor of my love for Sookie Stackhouse and her friends.
While I enjoyed the book, I feel the writing has slipped into repetitiveness. I know how Sookie feels about most things, but she just keeps telling me over and over. And over. The fun has gone out of things a little bit.
I love Eric and Sookie together but I was really not even caring at the end when it looked like they weren't going to be together anymore. I haven't cared at all about Sookie and Bill as a couple and almost thought "Hey, let's have them get back together! Why not?"
There wasn't a lot of character development in anyone new and the people that I know and love (or hate) were not very well developed other than their normal stuff.
I was happy to see Bubba and I enjoyed Dermot. Alcide was just thrown in there as a mention. Amelia just sort of mucked things up. Not enough Sam. And Sookie's magic fairy charm was introduced but then never used.
The series has gone from "must have" to "I'll wait until it's my turn to check it out at the library".
